Kim Ja-hong (Cha Tae-hyun), a firefighter who sacrificed his life to save his fellow human beings during an accident, suddenly dies. He is considered to be reborn by the three grim reapers led by Gang Rim (Ha Jung-woo), Lee Deok-chun (Kim Hyang-ki), and Hae Won-mak (Joo Ji-hoon). They want to determine the fate of Kim Ja-hong’s soul to be free from punishment for his past actions. Even though he was accused of not being filial or having time for his younger brother, and caused the death of his co-worker, Sung-joo (Ma Dong-seok)
Kim Ja Hong was thus tested and judged from within the seven levels of hell, with guardians helping him escape his guilt: the Hell of Murder, the Hell of Laziness, the Hell of Deceit, the Hell of Injustice, the Hell of Betrayal, the Hell of Violence, and the Hell of Gratitude.
So with the most serious accusation of Kim Ja Hong who had to overcome with the help of Gang Rim and Lee Deok Chun, even though they had to break the rules of being a grim reaper, Kim Ja Hong had to have the chance to choose to be reborn or go to heaven. The accusation was from accidentally causing the death of a coworker and making Ja Hong’s younger brother a vengeful spirit. In addition, his role in helping his mother was reduced from working too hard recently. In the end, Gang Rim wanted to choose for his younger brother to be reborn instead, but it was not possible according to the rules of the various stages in hell.
